20-21 Young Men of Color Mentoring VISTA - TN

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young men of color? Join the Afterschool Alliance and the Tennessee Afterschool Network on their mission to provide all children, including young men of color, with access to high quality mentoring and afterschool programs. The initiative plans to address persistent opportunity gaps faced by boys of color to ensure that all young people can reach their full potential. Through the initiative cities, schools, businesses and nonprofits are taking important steps to connect young people to mentoring, support networks and the skills they need to achieve academic success. To keep this resource operating for students, their families and their community, a community engagement strategy and sustainability process is needed. The Young Men of Color Mentoring VISTA will work to develop strategies and build partnerships with young men of color mentoring programs and schools to increase coordination and improve the quality of young men of color mentoring and afterschool programs. The Tennessee Afterschool Network VISTA position is located in Knoxville, TN. Member Duties : Partner with local afterschool network leaders to identify and map afterschool programs and resources; Research and share afterschool best practices for increasing young men of color literacy rates; Recruit and manage a Tennessee Afterschool Network Collaboration committee; Market the initiative campaign.
