CSU Channel Islands - Student Success Coordinator
 
 
 
Are you interested in building a mentorship program to support the persistence and graduation of STEM college students? Apply to be the STEM VISTA Student Success Coordinator at California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) to enhance students’ confidence to serve as mentors. CSUCI’s Student Academic Success and Equity Initiatives advances the university’s student-centered mission by augmenting a university culture that values inclusiveness, academic excellence and educational equity by supporting student success with high quality programs focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This role is part of the CSU STEM VISTA program. As a member of this cohort, you will take part in a learning community of VISTAs across the California State University system. Our one-year program is designed to promote your growth professionally and personally as you create and enhance programs for STEM students. All projects within CSU STEM VISTA are focused on eliminating race, class, and gender disparities in STEM undergraduate graduation rates. You will be trained to utilize sustainable, asset-based approaches that engage students of color, students from low-income communities, and students who are first in their families to attend college.

Member Duties : As the STEM VISTA Student Success Coordinator, you will coordinate a mentoring program for Latinx, first-generation and low-income STEM students and create training modules on facilitation and inclusive leadership. Additionally, you will support the development of the spring STEAM Carnival with the intention of increasing engagement of Latinx, first-generation and low-income CSUCI STEM students as community leaders.
