*Common Threads Farm, Food Educator
Common Threads connects kids to healthy food in the garden, in the kitchen, and at the table. We want kids to grow up making food choices that are good for their bodies, their communities, and the environment. Founded in 2006 and based in Bellingham, WA (a bikeable, walkable place with awesome quality of life!) Common Threads is a grassroots, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes a “seed to table” approach to food production, good nutrition, and environmental stewardship. Our vision is of a world where: •All children are given the resources, information, and experiences they need to make healthy food choices every day. •The foods that kids are exposed to at school (in the garden, classroom, and cafeteria) set them up for a life of healthy eating. •Healthy food and healthy food education in schools becomes an expected norm, understood as an integral part of a good basic education. All AmeriCorps Food Educators lead garden and cooking based education in our partner schools. Each member of the team also takes a lead role in some aspect of our programming (garden/agricultural specialist, social media specialist, cooking with kids specialist, after school program specialist, etc.) This position is contingent on funding. Please note that applications will not be considered unless applicant also submits a resume and cover letter directly to Common Threads Farm ( and 516 E. North Street, Bellingham WA 98225.) Please also note that we review applicants on a rolling basis and positions are open until filled. Do not delay in submitting your application. This position will be joining an existing team of 13 members.
