*Goodwill VISTA* Finance Authority of Maine--Augusta, ME

FAME's mission is to provide access to innovative financial solutions to help Maine citizens pursue business and educational opportunities. In Maine, only 37.8% of adults hold an associate’s degree or higher, while 21.2% of Maine children under the age of five are living in poverty. To improve Maine’s educational attainment rates, and to break the cycle of poverty, FAME administers a variety of programs, including Maine’s 529 college savings program and the Maine State Grant Program. FAME also offers extensive counseling and outreach throughout the state, and supports economic development by providing loan insurance and tax credits to Maine businesses. The AmeriCorps VISTA member will support FAME’s financial capability efforts, with a specific emphasis on fostering statewide collaboration, including support for the Maine K-12 Financial Education Partnership. The AmeriCorps VISTA will also assist the Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy to expand and support training to Maine educators. In order to improve access to available resources, the VISTA will support a website redesign, including enhancements to the Maine-Based Financial Education Services Clearinghouse. Lastly, the AmeriCorps VISTA will support enhancements to FAME’s Claim Your Future® game. For more information, visit famemaine.com, ClaimYourFuture.com and mejumpstart.org. Our VISTA member will work also with The Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy to support training initiatives and to foster statewide collaboration, and will work to promote statewide financial education programs through the Maine-Based Financial Education Resources. Our member will also assist the Claim Your Future® project, an interactive financial education game. These programs seek to improve the financial capability of Maine citizens through education, training, and outreach. For more information, visit famemaine.com, ClaimYourFuture.com or mejumpstart.org.
