Iowa Wesleyan University is part of Iowa Campus Compact (IACC). IACC is a statewide coalition of colleges and universities committed to the public role of higher education. We provide services to our members that enhance their ability to engage students, staff, and faculty in their communities including professional development opportunities, technical assistance, networking, grants and other programming. The 2016-2017 IACC VISTA Program will work to build partnerships between our member campuses and their community partners in an effort to build capacity and alleviate poverty in relation to education and economic opportunity.

Member Duties : The VISTA at Iowa Wesleyan University (IWU) will play a key role in Service-Learning and Civic Engagement (SLCE) initiatives involving students, faculty, staff and community partners. The VISTA will work closely with the Director of Service-Learning in the expansion of SLCE initiatives and the development of a broad based comprehensive SLCE program. To achieve these objectives, the VISTA will work with stakeholders at IWU and in the community to develop, coordinate and facilitate both curricular and co-curricular projects. This will include: assisting faculty with service-learning courses; developing and managing service day events and alternative break service trips; interaction with student organizations; student recruitment; creativity in marketing, promotion, and communication; and reaching out to potential new community partners and creating new relationships for IWU. This position requires a valid driver’s license. This position is located in Mt Pleasant, Iowa.
