2018 UCA - Phoenix Charter School Summer Garden Leader
 
 
 
United Communities AmeriCorps (UCAmeriCorps) engages members in meaningful service designed to meet critical community needs in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson and Josephine counties in Southern Oregon. UCAmeriCorps partners with community-based organizations, government agencies and schools to address local community needs in the areas of education and other human needs. We are currently recruiting summer members for UCAmeriCorps positions in Southwest Oregon that are 300 hours in length, with members earning an education award of $1,252.91. Member Duties : The member will utilize our garden, greenhouse, orchard, and native plant nursery to Grow Solutions for our at-risk youth and families. The AmeriCorps Member will serve roughly 35 hrs/week, of which 70% of their time to manage our garden, greenhouse, orchard, and native plant nursery complex to steward our summer production cycles. The member will also maintain ties with students, volunteers, community partners, and school-year staff to the garden. 10% of their time will be assisting with the Summer Earth Connect program for elementary-aged youth a few hours a week in the early summer. We are very hopeful for the member to spend 20% of their time to coordinate and facilitate our Umpqua Valley Farmer’s Market booth for selling produce, outreach to the program, and teaching the community Healthy Solutions.
