VISTA: Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park

The VISTA assigned to this site will be working within the Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park and, by extension, the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. As a DOI/VISTA, this service member will be working with staff from the National Park Service and the non-profit organization Blackstone Heritage Corridor, Inc. Our new bi-state national historical park includes four historic mill villages, which are all areas that are part of or adjacent to urban centers. Although the thrust of the new park is to preserve and interpret the industrial heritage of these communities, this project will ensure that current residents, many of whom are living below the poverty level, are connected and engaged with the new park and its resources.
