16-17 Iowa College Aid, Indian Hills Community College

The VISTA member will work closely with the Educational Opportunity Center, Indian Hills Community College, area school districts and Cradle- College- Career (C3) collaborative to support a community-wide effort to increase college access and success. This will include building strong partnerships with area organizations and agencies to support students in applying for, entering and completing college. This position is located in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Member Duties : This AmeriCorps VISTA member will work with Iowa College Aid and Indian Hills Community College (IHCC) to build a coordinated effort around college access and success for Ottumwa area residents. The member will support a community-wide, collaborative effort to increase postsecondary attainment by building strong partnerships, collaborating with local agencies, and assisting in development of Local College Access Network. The member will coordinate local College Application Campaign and FAFSA Completion Initiative, and develop informational materials promoting available resources for residents. VISTA will also work on programming that leads to positive and welcoming learning environment by assisting in development and implementation of strategies to reduce sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking on campus.
