AAA Get Healthy (Parker, AZ)
 
 
 
WACOG’s Get Healthy Program will work within each community in Western Arizona, with the current opening being based in La Paz county. The program will develop healthy, active lifestyle options and educational opportunities for persons of all ages. Each community will develop a strategic coordination plan that guides that community’s initiatives.

Member Duties : VISTAs will develop a collaborative, create a strategic coordination plan to guide the programs in that community, recruit and train volunteers, develop local support and oversee the delivery of programs and educational events. The collaborative will include County Health Departments, hospitals, regional behavioral health organizations, educational institutions, Head Starts, elected officials, agencies currently providing wellness programs, local businesses and community leaders. VISTAs will recruit volunteers to provide evidence-based educational programs such as CDSMP, Matter of Balance, Shopping Matters, Health Care Institute, Walk with Ease and Super Noggin. These programs promote healthy living and aging by being inclusive of all age groups. VISTAs will also work with local volunteers to create healthy cooking classes and explore the possibility of community gardens. Additional programs will be offered to the community as determined by the collaborative.
