SWEAP - Elder Abuse Prevention Community Education

Southwest Washington Elder Abuse Prevention (SWEAP) is comprised of a dedicated group of passionate volunteers who work to ensure aging and disabled individuals are provided the tools, resources and information they need to make informed decisions that will improve their quality of life and their financial resources. Abuse takes on many forms; physical, sexual, emotional, psychological, financial exploitation, and neglect including self-neglect. SWEAP is dedicated in moving forward in continuing the fight against elder abuse. Educating seniors and the community in how to recognize, respond to, and prevent elder abuse is the key. This project will center on increasing evidence based educational efforts dedicated to the prevention of elder abuse, along with working with community leaders and organizations to help coordinate community activities and support to prevent elder abuse.
