First 5 Fresno - Community Engagement

Fresno is located in the Central Valley area of California. Approximately 150 Southeast of Sacramento. First 5 Fresno County operates with the belief that supporting young children and their families is a community responsibility. Lasting improvements to the health and development of the county’s youngest residents are possible when community organizations, policy makers, families, and First 5 Fresno County work together. To this end, First 5 Fresno County leads, facilitates and supports a broad range of multi-sector partnerships to better serve children ages 0-5 and their families. Examples of these partnerships include First 5 IMPACT (an innovative approach between First 5 California and First 5 county commissions to increase the number of high-quality early learning settings across the state), the Lighthouse for Children Community Learning Center (a conglomeration of community partners providing a variety of services for young children and families), and Help Me Grow (a system that connects at-risk children with the services they need). The Strategic Initiatives VISTA will build capacity and achieve objectives set forth by these and other related First 5 Fresno County strategic investments and partnerships.
