Serve New York VISTA: The Foundry
 
 
 
Serve New York mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to serve organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions focused on the needs of veteran and military families, improving and expanding educational opportunities for disadvantaged youth, creating economic opportunity, and . The goal of Serve New York is to strengthen communities across the State, and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Serve New York program has partner organizations across New York State, in Buffalo, Rochester, Lyons, Ithaca, and White Plains. While serving, members receive support from the VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY, Inc. The support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members, and daily support from VISTA leaders.

Member Duties : The VISTA member in this position would be responsible for continuing a comprehensive educational program at The Foundry that will lead to a long term sustainable program. This includes assisting the Executive Director in program design and evaluation which would entail the following- setting project goals, measuring outputs and outcomes, preparing applicable documents, and monitoring success. The member would also create curriculum for participants, organize training seminars for instructors, manage volunteers, implement a payment structure for class registration and instructor compensation, and foster collaborations with other community organizations to maximize all organizational efforts.
