Volunteer Houston–Souper Bowl of Caring VISTA
 
 
 
Volunteer Houston VISTA members will expand their host sites’ organizational capacity to effectively engage volunteers and expand services. Members will enable our partners to build lasting volunteer infrastructure by creating the processes and tools needed to effectively access and utilize valuable volunteer program resources. At the same time, more opportunities will be created for community volunteers to engage in meaningful service to under-resourced communities to support efforts to alleviate poverty in Greater Houston. This member will increase participation in the Greater Houston area through community development and partnerships, grant writing and planning targeted media messaging.

Member Duties : VISTAs will generate a new marketing plan that spotlights Houston as a Host City for the 2017 Super Bowl, present the plan to SBC's communications team, work closely with Souper Bowl of Caring's (SBC) host city planning committee, & promote new material in hopes of building awareness & increasing registration among volunteers. Diversify funding base in Houston by researching and writing grants to support Houston initiatives, plan & host special events that bring awareness to SBC's mission and vision, help with annual fundraising event that supports nearly half of organization’s operating budget, & research and target prospective Houston individual, church and foundation donors. Develop new community partnerships by targeting new schools, churches and businesses in the Greater Houston Area, informing other hunger and poverty alleviating agencies about SBC, & educating existing participants on the importance of tackling hunger in Houston.
