Cities of Service Resilience AmeriCorps - Phoenix, AZ

Join the Phoenix team in sunny Arizona as a Resilience Engagement Coordinator. Be a part of groundbreaking work in conducting vulnerability assessments and coordination of resilience planning activities and impact volunteering in low-income neighborhoods in the Southwest environment. Responsibilities will include: Develop understanding of current Vulnerability Assessment Process (Plan Preparedness and Emergency Recovery), build resilience in “bouncing forward” from events, establish “point people” (liaisons) within each community for on-going engagement, and embed resilience in the city operation. Receive tech training on city hall’s digital volunteer engagement tool. Familiarize with existing process established under Emergency Management Program and objectives of overarching plan. Coordinate, communicate with established city focus groups (city departments). Conduct outreach to vulnerable populations to determine what resilience plans are in place, if any, within identified communities. Obtain feedback on the city’s current emergency management plans and document for inclusion in future emergency operations plans. Create reports based on feedback from vulnerable populations to determine resilience. Identify impact volunteers in the community and their involvement in the community. Determine what, if any, emergency response plans the community has in place today. Based on community feedback and current plans, define how these communities plan on remaining resilient after an emergency. Identify populations within the community that are reluctant to participate and establish outreach with that community either through impact volunteers or non-profit organizations active in the community. Establish a working document with contact information of engaged community members and nonprofits that is updated throughout the year to reflect the city’s on-going engagement and outreach to the community.
