My Brother’s Keeper – San Antonio is committed to shifting the narrative about boys and men of color, advocating for effective policy and system change, and developing the leadership & skills of African American and Latino males in San Antonio and Bexar County. The mission of MBKSA is to improve the life chances of African American, Latino, and other boys and men of color through policy and systems change, shifting public narratives, and developing leadership and capacity programs. The MBKSA mission is organized around 6 major goals, ensuring that: 1) all youth graduate from high school 2) all youth complete post-secondary education or training 3) all youth out of school are employed 4) all youth are safe from violent crime 5) all youth convicted or incarcerated receive opportunity to lead a productive life 6) local efforts are sustainable.

Member Duties : VISTA member will be working toward increasing community support for the MBK initiative. Specifically, the VISTA will focus on increasing engagement among service provider/non-profit/government agencies, the funding community, and the San Antonio community at large. Increasing engagement among these communities will require the VISTA to work on the following duties: • Improve the organization’s communications plan by researching best practices to increase website traffic, social media engagement, and other communication outlets • Research and develop comprehensive list of organizations that impact males of color • Plan and organize targeted outreach events to organizations impacting males of color • Attend community events to provide information on MBKSA • Develop and analyze custom data reports with P16Plus’ data director and analyst to fully illustrate the impact of MBKSA
