Fun Safe Philly Summer Coordinator
 
 
 
Become a leader in Philadelphia, and empower youth by increasing access to summer opportunities! Fun Safe Philly Summer is an initiative of the Office of Mayor Michael A. Nutter designed to connect youth in high-need areas of Philadelphia to summer programs, summer meals, and summer jobs. The VISTA will be responsible for creating and maintaining Fun Safe Philly Summer’s partnerships and resources through the mayoral transition and developing a sustainability plan to ensure the success of future youth summer programming efforts on the part of the City of Philadelphia. Furthermore, the VISTA will build upon the achievements of the last three years of the program by continuing to increase access to and participation in programs that encourage learning, healthy eating, and physical activity during the summer months. On a daily basis, the VISTA’s work will consist of planning events, coordinating volunteers, developing outreach strategies, managing websites and social media accounts, drafting press releases and reports, and facilitating meetings with partners and stakeholders.

Member Duties : Recruit, train, and delegate responsibilities to volunteers. Expand the summer program by increasing participation. Evaluate effectiveness of the program and research best practices to make program sustainable and more effective. The ideal candidate will possess good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, time and project management skills, and strong organizational skills.
