United Way Community Engagement Coordinator

UWCCR Community Engagement serves as the liaison between the corporate and nonprofit sectors. A need has been recognized for a better channel for community engagement including volunteerism, team building, supply drives, events, tours, and other ways to engage employees in our region with local nonprofits. Projects include physical improvements to program sites, school and community gardens, service with clients, hosting supply drives for school supplies, books and other items and various other ways for people to become engaged and learn about the issues in their community. Not only are people becoming more involved in their communities through these opportunities, but we have seen an increase in donations to local nonprofits by volunteers. However, we have reached capacity with our current resources and have the desire from corporate, nonprofit and other community partners to take the community engagement program to the next level. We have recently purchased new volunteer software that will allow us to offer partners a better experience with more options. In addition, our relationships with local high schools, colleges and universities has positioned us in a place to create a new program called Student United Way in which students lead activities on campus and serve as ambassadors and advocates for United Way and in turn our nonprofit partners. This program will provide real opportunities for the younger generation to participate in philanthropy and meet community service requirements. The Education, Health, and Financial Stability initiatives need the support and awareness of volunteers and community members in order to create additional financial, time and talent resources. UWCCR Community Engagement efforts will open doors to new opportunities and help with sustainability of these vital initiatives in our community. This position requires experience in community outreach and marketing.
