Supplemental questions which are required in addition to the AmeriCorps application can be found on our website at: www.seamar.org/volunteers/Americorps/index.html We are over 18 AmeriCorps volunteers serving at Sea Mar Community Health Centers throughout Western Washington as well as International Community Health Services in Seattle. Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a community-based organization committed to providing quality, comprehensive health and human services to diverse communities, specializing in service to Latinos. A large health center with over 25 facilities, Sea Mar offers medical, dental, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, nursing home services, a child development center, and farm worker housing. The HealthCorps program foci are service and supported learning. AmeriCorps members provide service while enhancing skills, vision, and professionalism in one or two departments. Personal growth is also fostered through a highly supportive, challenging, and educational team environment. The Sea Mar program began in 1995 and is an original HealthCorps site.

Member Duties : Assist community health center patients and community residents who do not have access to a medical home through education and enrollment in health center programs and services -Work with patients to ensure they keep appointments and follow treatment plans to better use health care services -Provide health education focused on Diabetes, Tobacco and Life Skills to help patients understand how to live a healthy lifestyle -Recruit, train, and manage one-time and/or long-term non-AmeriCorps volunteers -Facilitate classes and activities promoting healthy lifestyles to children, youth treatment facility residents, long-term care residents, elders and neighborhood youth.
