SMPDD Building Futures (PT)
 
 
 
The SMPDD Building Futures AmeriCorps program provides members with construction training and work experience as repairs are made to existing homes and new ones are built for local community members in need. Members will receive training in construction, and be able to immediately apply acquired skills to repair and rehabilitate the homes of economically disadvantaged families in Forrest and Lamar counties. This hands-on construction work will be side-by-side with seasoned community leaders who know how to get things accomplished. Members will provide a large array of services, such as painting, raising walls, shingling roof, hanging siding, insulating houses, hanging drywall, work site clean-up, and other activities as necessary to meet the standards of repair and development.
