Ethos Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA

Ethos is a private, not-for-profit organization that promotes the independence, dignity, and well-being of the elderly and disabled though quality home and community-based care. Ethos’ Volunteer Services Program matches trained community volunteers to provide elders with supportive services like companionship, help with grocery shopping, yard work and home maintenance, medical escorts, financial management, and many others! Ethos' Volunteer Coordinator AmeriCorps VISTA will grow viable sources of volunteers to meet the continually increasing and diversifying needs of our elders by creating and fostering lasting partnerships with business, community organizations, and schools. The Volunteer Coordinator VISTA will also develop and implement new systems to better communicate with Ethos' field-based volunteers and share their stories with the community at large, using phone calls, print stories, and social media updates. Through these projects, Ethos' pool of volunteer support will grow and The Volunteer Coordinator VISTA's efforts will help more seniors diminish isolation and reduce expenses by substituting free, volunteer services for costly fee-based services including snow removal, yard work, basic home repairs, and transportation to grocery stores and doctors' appointments. The selected VISTA candidate will be a member of the Boston Cares AmeriCorps VISTA program of approximately 25 VISTA members serving at more than 10 Greater Boston organizations. Pre-Service Orientation (PSO) for this position will be held November 17-20 in the Boston area. To complete your application, you will need to submit a resume, cover letter, and a brief writing sample responding to the below questions: You will receive an email with a link to Google Drive where you may upload those documents. We recommend adding Laura.Keith@bostoncares.org to your email Contacts to prevent messages from going to your junk/spam folder or Promotions tab.

Member Duties : The VISTA will conduct outreach to community leaders, organizations, schools, and business to solidify a sustainable stream of volunteers to serve in a growing variety of capacities. The VISTA will also explore each unique, new partnership and develop custom-fit strategies for relationship maintenance, such as recognition on social media, one-time –group volunteering events, or thank you gifts for each community partner. Further, they will implement and fine-tune systems to track and continually engage these partners. The VISTA would also be responsible for innovating and implementing new systems to better communicate with our volunteers, who are primarily based in the community and not regularly interacting with Ethos staff, and share their stories with the community at large. Examples of such efforts include spotlighting a “volunteer of the month” on our website, creating a volunteer newsletter, or conducting regular check-in phone calls to active volunteers.
