American YouthWorks - Development & Communications Associate

American YouthWorks is building brighter futures and better communities through education, service, and jobs skills training. We are dedicated to empowering young people and, in turn, those young people are improving our community. American YouthWorks programs and services are integrated, working together to transform individuals and communities. Firstly, we work to break down the barriers, such as a low income, pregnancy, or homelessness that inhibit young people from achieving their full potential. We offer free, wrap around services that meet basic needs and provide social support such as case management, breakfast and lunch, child care, and bus passes. Secondly, we offer opportunities for young people to advance their education by completing high school and earning scholarships for college or trade school. Additionally, we provide job credentials and skills to expose young people to career pathways and prepare them to enter jobs. Finally, we work closely with participants to help them take the next step after American YouthWorks by placing them in college, internships, and jobs. In addition to helping individuals become economically independent, we also seek to instill a life-long ethic of service in our participants. This concept is woven into all aspects of our programs, so that the life of each client is touched by giving back to others. Our participants address real community needs such as building affordable housing, preserving the natural environment, conserving natural resources, and restoring lives after disasters. American YouthWorks is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and our community to promote a healthy environment and economic prosperity, and to ensure all individuals’ basic needs are met.
