City of Austin Neighborhood Housing & Community Development
The City of Austin is one of the fastest growing cities in the U.S. and it is also becoming an increasingly unaffordable place to live. The City’s Neighborhood Housing and Community Development Office (NHCD) is responsible for working inter-departmentally, inter-organizationally, with partners, and with the community to address Austin’s affordability challenges. Addressing these challenges will require creativity and collaboration.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will work with the City of Austin’s Neighborhood Housing and Community Development staff to provide outreach and public engagement regarding housing policy objectives directed by the City Council to help mitigate gentrification and tenant displacement. The VISTA member will develop an outreach strategy and conduct outreach with the Community Development Commission, neighborhood groups, and other stakeholders to develop recommendations relating to the areas listed above. Spanish-speaking skills are preferred.
