Opportunity Council - Bellingham Food Bank

Bellingham Food Banks’s (BFB) Access Initiative will address local food insecurity, which is a condition of poverty. With just over 20% of Bellingham residents living in poverty, this project will specifically address food insecurity by increasing access to BFB’s free grocery program. This project will expand access to BFB’s food bank by bringing food to families that are not able to visit the food bank as often as they would like. The Access Initiative will operate a School-Based Food Pantry and increase BFB’s capacity to address hunger by bringing food to people who need it. Similarly, BFB will pilot a Home Delivery Program in order to get food to homebound community members who are not able to visit the food bank.
