Mountains to Sound Greenway, Restoration Associate

The Greenway Trust Stewardship Program provides long-term stewardship of the 1.5-million-acre Mountains to Sound Greenway, which includes over 900,000 acres of public lands stretching from Seattle to Central Washington. This program works on federal, state, county, city and selected private lands completing tree plantings, invasive plant removal, riparian restoration, logging road removal, trail maintenance and construction, and a host of other land stewardship activities. The Greenway Trust also maintains 80 miles of wildland trails and plants tens of thousands native trees and shrubs each year. To support many of our environmental stewardship efforts, the Greenway Trust recruits and engages more than 4,000 community volunteers each year. The IP volunteers provide support for invasive weed removal, and native tree and shrub planting efforts, trail maintenance, and our interaction with community volunteers provides a unique opportunity to discuss the Greenway, the landscape, the challenges faced in stewarding and caring for public land, and gives volunteers a chance to “give back” to the lands where they live, work and play. The Restoration Associate positions provide an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in public land management, Best Management Practices for ecological restoration, volunteer recruitment and engagement, and other aspects of natural resource management. The Greenway Trust is seeking to fill up to four WSC IP positions. These individuals will serve across the landscape within our environmental stewardship program, mostly as a team but also on individual projects as assigned. A small team of Individual Placements from the Washington Service Corps will be an integral asset to the Greenway Trust, facilitating our community engagement and ecological restoration efforts across the landscape. These positions are contingent on federal funding.
