SOTS - American Indian KFLA

Spirit of the Sun (SOTS) is a non-profit in Colorado that focuses on community development among Native American populations. As an AmeriCorps VISTA with SOTS, you will serve in Denver with the Kellogg Fellows Leadership Alliance (KFLA). KFLA is a network of professional leaders, activists, innovators, thinkers, and doers. There are approximately 50 American Indian Kellogg Fellows nationwide, representing many different tribal nations. The VISTA will communicate with the American Indian Kellogg Fellows to identify their skills, goals, and needs, foster collaboration among the fellows, and work with them to develop new programming for Indian Country. On a day to day basis, tasks will include developing tools to track collaborative activities, coordinating meetings for the fellows, developing and implementing programs for Native communities, and many other related activities. This VISTA will build the capacity of KFLA to address poverty and poverty related issues among Native Americans nationwide. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with experience or interest in Native American communities and cultures. The VISTA will need to relocate to the Denver area, find their own housing, and have their own transportation to and from work.
