Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country
 
 
 
Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA service member to serve the rural communities of Carbon & Emery Counties in southeast Utah. The VISTA will serve with Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country, with a portion of their time spent working on developing a strong partnership with the city of Helper. In its nearly thirty years of work in Carbon and Emery County, Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country has built seven homes and repaired nearly 40 homes with its A Brush with Kindness project in the past four years. The organization plans to begin building its eighth home in the Spring of 2019. This VISTA member will serve the final year of the three year program, focused on intensive volunteer and resource development, working to ensure the sustainability of programs, and working to keep the affiliate on track to build a new construction home in 2019. This position is a twelve-month, full-time position based in Price and Helper, Utah. Due to the travel requirements of this position, means of personal transportation is necessary. Qualifications: — College degree. — Passion for affordable housing and rural communities. — Experience working with a non-profit charitable organization (specific experience with Habitat is a plus). — Effective written and verbal communication (Spanish-language proficiency is a plus). — Organizational, interpersonal, and customer service skills. — Grant writing experience is a plus, but not required. — Interest in rural issues, community development, affordable housing, and/or public interest design.

Member Duties : Develop the organization as a whole, strengthening the A Brush With Kindness (ABWK) home repair program, and raising funds to build new affordable housing. Work to build a strong relationship between Habitat and the city of Helper. Promote environmental stewardship through encouraging the use of sustainable/green construction materials and facilitating energy efficiency home repairs. This VISTA member will serve the final year of the three year program, focused on intensive volunteer and resource development, working to ensure the sustainability of programs, and working to keep the affiliate on track to build a new construction home in 2019.
