WSC, WDC of Seattle; Partnership to Reconnect
 
 
 
The Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County (WDC) is seeking two AmeriCorps members for the Seattle-King County Partnership to Reconnect. The Seattle-King County Partnership to Reconnect AmeriCorps Members will provide low-income youth in South King County with an array of information and resources to help youth determine which re-engagement program is best for them. The primary responsibilities for this team of AmeriCorps members will be to conduct community outreach to youth in South King County and to expose youth to the re-engagement system. For youth that are ready to get back on track with their education and career, the AmeriCorps members will refer them to an appropriate program and ensure they are linked to services. These positions are contingent on funding. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis beginning May 18.

Member Duties : Conduct community outreach to youth in the community and community organizations in South King County. Engage with youth to help them determine which program may be right for them. Refer youth to appropriate re-engagement programs and/or workforce development programs. Ensure youth are connected to the program of their choice. AmeriCorps members will follow-up with youth and staff on the referral and provide career awareness and job search materials to youth. Members will help youth understand post-secondary training options, and how to access them. Members will identify ways in which WDC career awareness tools and strategies can be improved for youth. Coordinate with Youth Business Services Team as appropriate. Support career fairs/hiring events and track number of youth contacts, youth referrals and outcomes of referrals.
