Apply now for a short-term, full-time ("accelerated half-time") position ending August 2018. ------ The Preserve WV AmeriCorps program is Preservation Alliance of West Virginia’s statewide service initiative where members help main streets thrive, help communities capture their local history, and preserve beloved West Virginia landmarks. ------ The purpose of the Preserve WV AmeriCorps program is to implement historic preservation and heritage tourism projects throughout West Virginia by way of historic resource re-use, improvement, and interpretation. A historic resource in this context could be a building, museum/archival collection, structure, landscape, or historic district/downtown commercial district. Members' service will emphasize community development and revitalization through projects focused on historic preservation, volunteer management, and cultural heritage tourism development. --------- Members will be placed with individual sites throughout the state, ranging from museums and archives to Main Street organizations and city agencies. -------- As of 12/3/2017, open positions are: * Fayette County Resource Coordinator's Office (Fayetteville, Fayette County); * Northern WV Brownfields Assistance Center (Morgantown, Monongalia County); * Pocahontas County Opera House (Marlinton, Pocahontas County). ------- Application process: * Complete the My AmeriCorps application. * Complete a questionnaire at * Each applicant must review the position descriptions (supplied via email on request or after receipt of the application) and send a cover letter explaining positions of interest and why he/she would like to serve at those sites and be a good fit for the positions. Member Duties : The Preserve WV AmeriCorps program's purpose is to promote historic preservation, economic development, revitalization, and heritage tourism through historic resource development projects. A historic resource in this context could be a building, museum/archival collection, structure, landscape, or historic district/downtown commercial district. -------------- DUTIES: Members will have specific duties based on their assigned sites. All members are required to make improvements to historic resources and to manage volunteers. Specific sites' position descriptions will be provided to applicants upon receipt of initial application, or you can email for a copy of position descriptions and more information about the program.
