Pawtucket School Dept. Connecting Futures VISTA
 
 
 
The Pawtucket School Department(PSD) is looking to recruit 6 VISTA members to serve at the PSD office on the Connecting Futures Operation AmeriCorps program. The program will focus on providing services to connect high school seniors with 1 of 5 post-secondary pathways, including college or technical school, military service, AmeriCorps/national service, employment or paid internship, and apprenticeship or job training program. VISTA members will focus on developing programming and community relationships to support the work of 16 AmeriCorps*State members in Shea and Tolman High Schools. Specific duties will include assessment of the current programming; recruiting, training, and managing community volunteers and mentors; and developing programs, events, and service projects.

Member Duties : VISTA member duties will include assessment of the current programming; recruiting, training, and managing community volunteers and mentors; and developing programs, events, and service projects. The 6 VISTAs will be paired up for 3 general focus areas. In addition to overall team duties, applicants may show preference for: • School-Based Program Development: Academic Support, Post Secondary School Access and Financial Literacy, coordinating with the Superintendent, School Principals, AmeriCorps College Advising Corps and Guidance Staff teams. • Career Awareness and Exploration, Work Experience (after school, weekends, summer), Summer Jobs and Service Projects, coordinating with the Pawtucket Foundation, Youth Center. • Industry Partnership Outreach, Job Development and Career Center, coordinating with the Mayor's Office Industry Leadership for Youth, North RI Chamber of Commerce and Pawtucket Boys and Girls Clubs.
