20-21 NSEA Environmental Stewardship Associate
 
 
 
Contingent on funding, NSEA will onboard two AmeriCorps Environmental Stewardship Associates who will work together to engage volunteers in all NSEA efforts including on-the-ground restoration through the Stream Stewards Program, maintaining NSEA’s onsite native plant nursery, and facilitating education, outreach, and stewardship events. These positions will oversee a team of volunteers to facilitate community work parties that provide the community with opportunities to restore salmon habitat across Whatcom County. Members will also facilitate general volunteers and interns in NSEA’s work, supporting specific volunteer projects and outreach events, streamlining volunteer sign-in and tracking, and coordinating professional development through NSEA’s FLOW Internship Program. Additionally, members will host a series of Salmon Sighting events and Habitat Restoration Tours throughout the year for various audiences. Member Duties : Members will identify, schedule, plan, publicize, and coordinate volunteer-based projects including streamside habitat restoration work parties; update and manage a current list of volunteer opportunities, assist with coordination and implementation of these projects; assist with the recruitment, training, and coordination of volunteers; assist in the maintenance of NSEA’s on-site native plant nursery, working with community volunteers; assist with the Nooksack River Stewards Program, and other education and outreach programs; assist in the engagement and retention of Future Leaders of Whatcom Waters (FLOW) Internship Program; table outreach booths, assist in the production of outreach materials, conduct public presentations, update social media feeds, and assist with NSEA events, and provide support to other AmeriCorps team members, cross training in their respective programs.
