Washington Reading Corps - La Center Elementary

Located in Clark County, Washington, La Center Elementary serves approximately 680, K-5 students. We are fortunate at our school to have a principal, associate principal, full time counselor, behavior support specialist and Family- Community Resource Center Coordinator to meet the needs of our students. Additionally, our A.C.E. Team provides targeted interventions to students in kindergarten to fourth grade. Currently, we are using a pull out intervention and have 2 certificated staff and four classified staff serving students in small groups. We are fortunate to have a Family- Community Resource Center (FCRC) on site to serve students and families. The FCRC is a community school model and provides such things as: wrap around supports for families in need, parenting classes, 90 minute early learning classes, Friday Food bags, Watch Dogs, Attendance programs and Family Engagement opportunities. This year we have implemented Multi- Tiered Systems of Support. We meet with grade level teams each week, using various data to establish supports or provide interventions for students around: math, reading, wrap- around supports, behavior and attendance.
