NYIC Communications VISTA @ Westchester Hispanic Coalition

The New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC), www.nyic.org, aims to achieve a more fair and just society that values the contributions of immigrants and extends opportunity to all. As part of its mission, the NYIC works to engage and support local and state organizations who are part of its Membership in engaging in immigrant service provision and/or advocacy. The NYIC will be placing AmeriCorps VISTAs in 11 of its Member organizations, in addition to its own office, to build capacity – in the form of volunteer management, communications, fundraising and/or administrative systems – in support of the organizations’ efforts to connect low-income immigrants to immigration legal services, ESOL classes and/or job placement services. AmeriCorps VISTAs placed in either the NYIC or one of its Member Agencies, will be supported by the NYIC with a 3-day training at the beginning of the year of service, monthly webinars, monthly check-ins with NYIC staff, and ongoing networking opportunities with other NYIC AmeriCorps VISTAs.
