Mentor Coordinator-Great Expectations-Piedmont

Virginia Mentoring Partnership (VMP) is the only statewide organization dedicated to the expansion of research based, high-quality mentoring in Virginia. Candidates are being recruited for service from August 2017 to August 2018. VMP is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to our vision that every child who needs a mentor has a mentor. VMP's mission is to provide training and technical assistance to mentors and mentoring programs to increase the quality and quantity of mentoring for Virginia's youth. VMP has a rich history of motivating the mentoring field by providing training and capacity building services for over 28,000 people in the mentoring; execution of effective mentor recruitment and public relations campaigns; and advocating on behalf of increased resources to the mentoring movement and direct service programs in Virginia. Research supports mentoring as a positive influence on youth that not only enhances their social skills and well-being, but also improves cognitive skills leading to improvement in school outcomes, attitudes, and choices. VMP has a team of full-time VISTA members, including two VISTA leaders, to support the organization's internal capacity and members hosted by sites throughout Virginia to focus on capacity building in the areas of: Program Development, Mentor/Mentee Training, Match Support, and Volunteer Recruitment.
