WSC Neighborhood House, High Point Teens Program

Neighborhood House High Point Teens Program strives to develop under-represented middle and high school student leaders through a wide range of activities. One of the main program components is STUDIO, which focuses on introducing STEM concepts to youth living in the High Point community in West Seattle. We do this by creating interactive and engaging projects that the youth enjoy. Through a partnership with the University of Washington, the program hosts college-aged mentors with STEM expertise, who mentor closely with youth all year long. Additionally, the High Point Teens program places a strong emphasis on college and career readiness to put area youth on a pathway toward post-secondary education, specifically within the science, technology, engineering and math fields. Program hours are Monday through Thursday, in the late afternoon/early evening times. Members and staff spend the rest of their time creating program curriculum and planning field trips and/or activities for the youth that will enrich their overall learning experience. This program is run with a strong team approach, where staff and members join together to design and manage all aspects of programming. All service takes place in the High Point community. Located in West Seattle, this is an area where families come from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. This position is contingent on funding. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.
