About United for Prevention in Passaic County United for Prevention in Passaic County’s (UPinPC) mission as a coalition of nonprofits, government agencies, educators, residents, and William Patterson University is to prevent and reduce alcohol and drug abuse among the youth and adults of Passaic County by leading policy change, offering trainings, community education, sharing of resources and encouraging collaboration between communities. This is a New Jersey Campus Compact Statewide Collective Impact AmeriCorps VISTA Project. With our college and university partners, New Jersey Campus Compact is building a cohort of AmeriCorps VISTA members to support the anti-poverty work of 14 large-scale, cross-sector organizations focused on increasing education, economic opportunity, and healthy futures in NJ’s underserved urban areas. We seek a qualified, civic-minded individual to be the AmeriCorps VISTA serving at United for Prevention in Passaic County.

Member Duties : As a New Jersey Campus Compact VISTA based at William Patterson University, you will be an integral team member serving with UPinPC senior staff, college faculty, nonprofits, experts to build UPinPC’s substance abuse education initiatives. In this role, you will research, develop, and help implement the following initiatives: 1. Assist UPinPC to coordinate efforts with Passaic County Community College to expand its student Peer Educator’s Program 2. Grant funding to expand client counseling services 3. Improve UPinPC’s volunteer training curriculum and management system 4. Mobilizing and training William Patterson University and community volunteers for TIPs Training 5. Develop prevention resources for local Municipal Alliance volunteers 6. Promoting and organizing strategic collaborations among partner agencies for UPinPC's conferences
