NJ Campus Compact VISTA Leader

About New Jersey Campus Compact Collective Impact AmeriCorps VISTA Program: With our college and university partners, New Jersey Campus Compact (NJCC) is continuing its mission to build a strong and dedicated cohort of AmeriCorps VISTA members. The NJCC AmeriCorps VISTA cohort will support the anti-poverty work of 14 large-scale, cross-sector organizations focused on increasing education, economic opportunity, and healthy futures in NJ’s underserved urban areas. Our mission is to train and mobilize this cohort of 14 VISTAs to support the capacity building efforts of these collective impact projects throughout the state of New Jersey. The VISTA Leader: This opportunity enables the Leader to coach VISTAs to effectively complete their assignments, and ultimately help transform the prospects of neighborhoods, cities, and counties. The projects the VISTA Leader will help manage include Federally funded Promise Neighborhoods and Community Schools, initiatives funded by the NJ Office of the Attorney General, and more. Several of our VISTA projects are tied to higher education institutions, 4 of our projects are supported by the Ofc. of the Attorney General. Many of our VISTA projects also receive other forms of significant Federal Funding and have received recognition from the White House, all of them work to galvanize government, philanthropic, corporate, public schools, higher education, nonprofits, and residents to work towards common anti-poverty goals. Our VISTA program aims to serve 1,600 people in poverty. We seek a qualified, civic-minded National Community Service alum to lead our efforts. Additionally, the VISTA leader will have several learning and networking opportunities with policy experts, New Jersey state and local government agencies such as City Hall and the Office of the Attorney General, nonprofits, philanthropic entities, higher education faculty and staff, and community-based organizations.
