The mission of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee's Fair Housing Project is to eliminate housing discrimination and segregation based on race, national origin, familial status, physical and mental disability, sexual orientation, source of income, religion, gender, and other bases, and to affirmatively further fair housing in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Member Duties : The VISTA will review existing outreach objectives then meet with FHP staff to create a 12 month outreach plan. The VISTA will make visits to targeted community areas. The VISTA will identify the target area's interest in civil rights, education, and legal needs. The VISTA will attend community events such as information fairs and help conduct training sessions to increase fair housing knowledge, encouraging complaints when warranted and connecting more community members to the Fair Housing Project. The VISTA will build a more comprehensive community contacts list and plan and hold at least one special community-based fair housing event. The VISTA will also work with CLC and FHP staff to develop and implement a communications plan to improve CLC and FHP's visibility. The VISTA will review current FHP media objectives and communications, build the media contact list, post FHP and fair housing news to social media, and improve e-mail and regular mail contact lists.
