Turn2Us School Program Associate

NY-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) serves as a world-class academic medical center—with affiliates Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College—and as a leading community and safety-net hospital, providing charity care and offering a range of specially targeted local services. Its Ambulatory Care Network (ACN) serves over 750,000 local patients annually through primary care and sub-specialty clinics and some 15 other community health programs, including Turn 2 Us.    Turn 2 Us has been recognized regionally and nationally for its efforts in the mental health field. Its program evaluation outcomes (increased classroom compliance, academic performance and attendance) has recently been published in NASW’s Schools & Children’s Journal. We have strong partnerships with NYP’s Department of Child Psychiatry and with Columbia University Medical Center.   The VISTA will: gain experience and knowledge in the public health and mental health sectors; develop and/or enhance skills in marketing, social media, program development, and fundraising; interact with highly qualified professional colleagues; develop a network of colleagues.      With in-house support the VISTA will help take Turn 2 Us to a new level thus indirectly having a great impact on the lives of inner city children who are at risk for psychiatric adversity (depression, anxiety, ADHD, selective mutism) due to situations such as fear of family deportation, foster care placement, economic hardship, chronic family illnesses, and exposure to domestic and community violence.
