Food Access Facilitator -New Entry Sustainable Farming

New Entry Sustainable Farming Project (New Entry) works locally, regionally, and across the country to strengthen local food systems by supporting new farmers. We serve and collaborate with the people, communities, and organizations in Massachusetts, the Northeast, and beyond. Our mission is to improve our local and regional food systems by training the next generation of farmers to produce food that is sustainable, nutritious, and culturally-appropriate. New Entry makes this food accessible to individuals regardless of age, mobility, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. In doing this work, we provide critical training, career development, and economic opportunity to new farmers. We seek three VISTA members as follows: (1) The Food Access Facilitator will enhance food access programming by building the capacity of the food hub to meet food access partner needs. Key elements include: nurturing existing partnerships, conducting assessments, expanding partnerships, creating outreach materials, and developing strategies to increase food access program awareness; (2) The Volunteer Recruitment Facilitator will build upon our existing volunteer recruitment and management systems allowing us to better serve our low-income food access customers and limited resource farmers alike. Key elements include: enhancing the volunteer recruitment, management, and recognition processes; maintaining records on volunteer activity and creating new opportunities; growing the network of volunteers, creating a strong culture of volunteerism at the organization; (3) The Development Facilitator will leverage resources and strategic partnerships to facilitate community events, outreach, and funding opportunities. Key elements include: developing and securing funding for events, assisting with outreach and donor cultivation, drafting grant proposals, and developing novel programs that secure consistent long-term funding.
