NYCC - Onondaga Community College
 
 
 
The VISTA at Onondaga Community College will support the college’s continued efforts to establish the Onondaga Community Care Hub, which will serve as a centralized point of access to non-academic support services designed to address challenges such as food and housing insecurity, transportation barriers, and health care needs that too often impede the ability of low-income students to remain enrolled in college and stay on track to complete a post-secondary credential. Based on the Single Stop model, the Hub will connect students to coordinated “wrap-around” support services delivered by community organizations, public agencies, and non-profit partners. The VISTA will build capacity to assist the College build a sustainable model to connect students with non-academic support services and resources to ensure basic needs such as housing, food, transportation, and child care are met.

Member Duties : 1. Build the capacity of the Right Turn Career-Focused Transition Initiative - create, and promote activities related to the career-development of Right Turn youth and their mentors. - Support the continued development of the Community Care Hub services. Interface with youth and students to experience the impact of service and resource provision. - Coordinate and facilitate quarterly partnership meetings to review policies and processes; assess outcomes; developed modifications to service delivery model. - Recruit, Train, and Coordinate the Food Pantry Volunteers - Ensure that food pantry operation and work with volunteers when pantry is in operation. - Work with Community Care Hub staff to help build capacity for continued growth in service delivery. - Develop a student advisory committee to guide the advancement of Community Care Hub efforts. - Plan and coordinate events related to CCH services and resources.
