New Sun Rising Capacity VISTA
 
 
 
New Sun Rising works with mission aligned partners to activate the vision and plans of underserved communities in Pittsburgh. The MODE program is a collaborative social innovation network, which identifies motivated leaders, facilitates alignment with local community plans, promotes a climate of success for startups and creatives, and positions homegrown entrepreneurs to benefit from the opportunities resulting from revitalization and investment. This model deploys a place based strategy to social innovation, building both local economic opportunity and more equitable, vibrant communities. New Sun Rising’s MODE program seeks to revitalize communities through: increased knowledge and resources, increase financial investments, increased leadership capacity, increase support/resource networks, measure program outcomes and refinement of model to ensure ongoing success, and develop a replicable and scalable model for authentic community revitalization by catalyzing success for local social entrepreneurs.

Member Duties : VISTA capacity building in support of New Sun Rising objectives includes: develop and manage systems for measuring program impact, research and develop collaborative social innovation network toolkit for replication, grant research and writing for long term sustainability, research and support for local social entrepreneurs, and outreach through developing materials, community event planning and coordination.
