*Goodwill VISTA* Multilingual Multicultural Center, Portland

The Portland Public School’s District offices are located in downtown Portland, Maine. The District, http://www.portlandschools.org/ serves four high schools, four middle schools, and eleven elementary schools, including the Bayside Learning Community school. Superintendent Xavier Botana leads the Portland Public Schools and is directly responsible to the Portland Board of Public Education. He provides educational leadership in developing and maintaining the best possible school system. He leads, guides and directs the administrative, instructional, and support services teams in setting and achieving the highest standards of excellence in educational programs and operating systems. He is responsible for a system of supervision and evaluation for all staff, and oversees and administers the use of all facilities, property, and funds in the best interests of students and the school system. As part of its Comprehensive Strategic Plan, the intent is to improve the District’s communications processes, creating strategy, renewing branding, and refreshing approaches, such as the website, and social media. As part of this strategy, attention will be given to ensuring all members of our community, including the 36% of our students who live in homes where the primary language other than English is spoken and the 55% of our students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
