CSU San Bernardino STEM Peer Led Undergraduate Success

The CSU STEM VISTA program is focused on on eliminating race, class and gender disparities in STEM. During their year of service, our VISTA members apply their skills, knowledge and talents to improve STEM education in the California State University system. Whether you are a recent college graduate or have career goals in STEM or education, our one-year program is designed to help our VISTA members grow professionally and personally as they create and enhance programs for STEM students. Our selected VISTA members are matched with a CSU campus team and work full-time on STEM student success projects for one year (July 8, 2019 through July 7, 2020). We train and support our VISTA members to utilize sustainable, asset-based approaches that empower and engage students of color, students from low-income communities, and students who are first in their family to attend college. Alongside their campus teams, VISTA members develop, strengthen and expand the effectiveness of learning experiences for STEM students, with the ultimate goal of increasing retention and completion for all students. VISTA members have helped campuses launch peer mentoring programs, connect service-learning students with K-12 schools, enrich first-year experience programs, develop academic enrichment trainings and workshops, and establish internship and research opportunities for STEM students. This position is one of 20 available positions within the cohort-based CSU STEM VISTA program.
