PSEI - Employment Specialist - Takoda Group

Takoda Group is a Division of the American Indian OIC and is a non-profit talent discovery group that provides a diverse pool of job seekers that range from mature professionals to energized young graduates from across the metro area with job placement services. This innovative program offer high level profile development of candidates and matches their talent with area employers. AIOIC’s Takoda Institute of Higher Education provides accredited vocational education in the fields of business, healthcare, and information technology. Programs last no longer than nine months and the per-credit fee of the school is the lowest in the state of Minnesota, meaning that Pell grants fully cover tuition, books, and fees for qualifying students. While students are completing their coursework at the Takoda Institute, they work one-on-one with a career counselor to develop career goals, connect with job opportunities in their field, and develop high quality resumes, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles so they are prepared to secure employment upon their graduation. The majority of Takoda students are from communities of color and are experiencing long-term under- or unemployment. Learn more about the Takoda Group at http://takoda.aioic.edu/ VISTA will be part of the Phillips Sectoral Employment Initative (PSEI) cohort at the Jay and Rose Phillips Family Foundation of Minnesota, learn more at www.phillipsfamilymn.org
