OABC Bienestar Social Enterprise Program Specialist 2015-16

Bienestar has been providing quality affordable housing for low-income individuals and families who are dependent on agriculture work since 1981. As of 2014 Bienestar has 12 multi-family properties in its real estate portfolio. We provide homes for approximately 1200 adults and 900 children. Historically 98% of the residents of our properties have been Latino. We believe in the resilience and capacity of all human beings to help, change, adapt and lead in their own lives, their families, neighborhoods and communities. In recent years Bienestar has moved to develop job training programs and social enterprises that increase our resident’s access to culturally specific training that allows them enter the workforce at living-wage positions or to find fulfilling employment. VISTAs have been and are expected to profoundly be involved in the success of Bienestar's social enterprises.
