Harvest Against Hunger Summer Associate City Fruit

City Fruit promotes the cultivation of urban fruit in order to nourish people, build community and protect the climate. We help tree owners grow healthy fruit, provide assistance in harvesting and preserving fruit, promote the sharing of extra fruit, and work to protect urban fruit trees. During the summer, we are focused on harvesting fruit from residential properties and public parks. The VISTA Summer Associate (SA) will help City Fruit with both hands-on harvest work as well as work party support in public orchards. Project Background Harvest Against Hunger (HAH), a program of Rotary First Harvest, connects local growers, food banks and volunteers to secure fresh produce for distribution to thousands of people throughout Washington State. HAH finds new and innovative ways to decrease waste of fresh fruits and vegetables and increase the availability of nutritious produce to food bank clients.
