Emerge Housing Coordinator (Emerge)
 
 
 
This position is part of the Emerge VISTA program and will be serving at the Emerge headquarters in North Minneapolis. CAR REQUIRED! MUST BE ABLE TO PASS BACKGROUND CHECK FINAL DEADLINE TO APPLY WITH A COMPLETE APPLICATION IS 6/28/2016. This position is a great balance of working in the community and in the office. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and grow while making a difference. Applicants should be comfortable going into the prisons. We will focus on supporting and training you so that you can support and train our clients. This position will be working in the exciting new program called RESTORE (Re-engaging Society through Opportunity Restoration and Employment) at our headquarters in North Minneapolis. The RESTORE program works to reduce recidivism of North Minneapolis residents released from the Hennepin County Adult Correctional Facility, who are at medium and high risk to recidivate. Clients in this program receive services including case management/counseling, individualized job search assistance/job development, work readiness course facilitation, job placement and retention follow-up, and support services. This VISTA position will support the housing services side of the program.

Member Duties : If you are looking for the chance to make an impact in the community, look no further! In this position, you will use your skills and knowledge to create, design and implement a series of new trainings focused on educating our clients with criminal records on the aspects of being a responsible tenant, landlord tenant rights, as well as ways to overcome prior housing issues. Your creativity and passion will be put to good use impacting the lives of our clients. You will also network with area landlords and rental entities to build relationships that encourage them to rent to our clients with criminal records. You will evaluate and enhance current Renter's Rights training curriculum. Additionally, you will develop relationships with homebuyer education providers and realtors to build out a curriculum tailored specifically to participants with criminal backgrounds to purchase a home.
