Volunteer Outreach Specialist - United Way Duluth (MAVA)
 
 
 
The VISTA member will collaborate with youth-serving agencies to implement the Reader, Tutor, Mentor (RTM) initiative, a streamlined approach to recruiting and training volunteers to work with youth in the areas of reading, math and career exploration. The aim of RTM is to increase the capacity of the Volunteer Center to tell the story of impact volunteerism, improve operations, reduce duplication of efforts, and build sustainability. ***Applications accepted on a rolling basis. Member Duties : Help close the achievement gap in Duluth. -Work with youth-serving agencies to implement the Reader, Tutor, Mentor (RTM) initiative. -Recruit volunteers through community tabling and presentations. -Facilitate RTM volunteer training, as well as provide ongoing support and recognition for volunteers -Be the liaison between MAVA and volunteer coordinators in Duluth. -Promote Volunteer Center as a one-stop-shop for every volunteer need through community-based activities and media. -Create and maintain Weekly Service Scoop, an e-newsletter of new and current volunteer opportunities. -Support National Volunteer Week recognition (solicit deals and discounts at local businesses for volunteers that week) and Day of Caring (community-wide day of service in December and June). -Support efforts to redesign and reestablish a local volunteer coordinator network.
