Latino Success Initiative VISTA(Central Oregon)

These VISTA positions join Better Together Central Oregon—a regional, cross-sector partnership working collectively to improve Latino children and youth success from before birth to career. Members will focus their outreach and partnership development efforts in four priorities along the cradle to career continuum: 1) Early Learning and Wellness, 2) Supporting Families, 3) Bridging vulnerable transitions and 4) Aligning education/training with career. The VISTA will serve in critical support of the complex social issue of ensuring long-term Latino student success (defined as ending in a meaningful career). The goal is to ensure a focus on Latino families living in poverty and those who are under served in our community.VISTA members will work to increase the capacity and sustainability of a cutting edge Latino student success movement that is data driven, innovative and is gaining increasing recognition on the state and national stage. Through the frame of Collective Impact (see www.fsg.org for more information on Collective Impact), VISTAs serving with Better Together will invite and engage schools, higher education institutions, businesses, government agencies, community based organizations, non-profits and individual community members to come together around this common mission of aligning our existing, emerging and future efforts around twenty-five partner identified shared outcome measures from before birth to career. The VISTA members will work to encourage the community to continue to rally around a simple, but profoundly compelling call to action: “Find your role, help students excel - we’re Better Together!" ****SPANISH REQUIRED***** Check us out on the worldwide web: bettertogethercentraloregon.org
