Support Hunger Issues in St. Paul - Lyngblomsten (MAVA)

Lyngblomsten is a campus that houses almost 400 older adults, some in long term care and some living independently. Many of the people living here have very low income and are too proud to ask for assistance. The affordable food programs make free or reduced cost food available to the entire campus, breaking down some barriers for those too proud to ask for help. For two years our VISTA members have been building these food opportunities with the assistance of volunteers. Our 2015/16 VISTA will work to support the volunteers so that they have ownership of the programs, and are confident to bring in new programs that may become available. ***Applications accepted on a rolling basis. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply early.

Member Duties : The Lyngblomsten VISTA member will nurture the volunteers that are currently helping with the affordable food programs at Lyngblomsten. Recruitment of additional volunteers to help with these programs will also be a part of the year. While there are volunteers currently in place, the 2015/16 VISTA will help the volunteers to take ownership of the affordable food programs so that they may be completely volunteer sustained after the VISTA has completed service. The VISTA will also work with Lyngblomsten Volunteer Services to nurture volunteers to assist with on-line recruitment and the on-line volunteer portal.
